What is Client Support Services?

Holding Out HELP's Client Support Services bridge the gap between initial stabilization and lifelong self-sufficiency by pairing clients directly with background-checked, dedicated community volunteers. These volunteers serve as personal allies, walking alongside clients as they navigate the unique challenges of rebuilding their lives in a new environment.

By fostering these intentional connections, Client Support Services ensure that no one has to walk the journey toward a brighter, independent future alone.

Mentorship

Transitioning into a new community can feel overwhelming and isolating. Our CSS Mentors are trusted, background-checked community volunteers who get paired with clients one-on-one. They provide a stable foundation of personal support. Mentors act as a consistent, friendly ally—walking alongside clients to help build self-esteem, practice healthy communication, establish personal boundaries, and experience the warmth of a supportive community. This relationship is focused on helping clients feel seen, valued, and connected as they navigate their lives.

Coaching

Moving from isolation to self-sufficiency requires mastering practical, everyday systems. Our CSS Coaches range from life coaches to financial coaches. Clients are paired with these dedicated coaches as they focus on measurable personal and professional growth. Coaches work collaboratively with clients to develop critical structural skills, including financial literacy, household budgeting, time management, job searching, resume building, and interview preparation. This practical, goal-oriented partnership empowers clients with the tools and confidence needed to achieve long-term independence.

Tutoring

We believe education is a powerful catalyst for a brighter future. Because clients and their children transitioning from polygamous cultures often face unique interruptions in their schooling, our CSS Tutors provide targeted academic support. Background-checked tutors work one-on-one with both adults and youth to bridge educational gaps, assist with homework, improve literacy, and help students successfully adapt to and excel within standard educational systems.

How To Become a
Client Support Services Provider

1.

Submit an Application

Express your interest by completing our online volunteer inquiry form. You will be able to specify whether you are interested in becoming a Mentor, Coach, or Tutor, and share a bit about your background.

2.

Complete an Interview

Once your application is reviewed, our team will reach out to you for a personal interview to discuss our mission, client needs, and program expectations.

3.

Pass a Background Check

Because our Client Support Services Providers engage in direct, one-on-one relationships with vulnerable individuals and families, safety is our highest priority. All prospective providers must successfully clear a mandatory criminal background check before being cleared to serve.

4.

Training

Prior to being placed with a client, you will complete a Cultural Sensitivity Training designed to prepare you for working sensitively and effectively with individuals from polygamous cultures. For mentors, an additional mentor training is required. We have provided an online portal with these trainings as well as additional resources that can be utilized.

5.

Get Matched & Connect with Your Client

When a client’s goals align with your specific expertise, their assigned Case Manager will reach out to facilitate the connection. From there, you will begin meeting with your client, working side-by-side with our staff to provide stable, ongoing encouragement and practical guidance on their journey to independence.
