How To Help
Donations
Holding Out HELP is partially funded by grants but heavily relies on the generosity of private individuals, small businesses, and corporate sponsors. For many years, we were exclusively supported through donations, which continue to be the cornerstone of our work. Each year, we now serve around 300 clients, providing essential resources such as food, clothing, shelter, counseling, education, and other critical support services.
You can make a one-time gift or set up a recurring monthly donation. Your contribution will be automatically charged to your account at the frequency you choose, ensuring a steady impact on those we serve.

In-Kind Donations
Many of our clients arrive with little more than the clothes on their backs. To support them during their transition, we maintain a supply closet at our center, stocked with essential items they may need. Additionally, we strive to create a welcoming and safe space where clients can feel comfortable and at home. We keep our fridge stocked with beverages and our counter filled with snacks for clients to enjoy while they’re here. We are always in need of the following donations:
-
Baby Wipes, Shampoo & Conditioner
-
Cleaning Supplies, Dish Soap, Laundry Detergent
-
Paper Towels, Toilet Paper
-
Snacks, Water Bottles
-
Gift Cards
-
New Laptops
-
Gently Used Vehicles
Please note, we do not accept furniture or clothing

CLIENT SUPPORT SERVICES
As a Utah resident, you can make a meaningful impact by supporting our Client Support Services program at Holding Out HELP. These opportunities focus on direct support for individuals from polygamous backgrounds and are designed to meet clients where they are with compassion, respect, and practical assistance.
Client Support Services include mentoring and other forms of individualized support that draw on both lived experience and professional expertise. Because these roles involve direct client interaction, they require a more comprehensive application and screening process.
Client Support Services Opportunities include:
Mentors
Life coaches
Financial counselors
Tutors
In addition, we are always seeking licensed or skilled professionals willing to donate their time or services in support of our clients. This may include:
Attorneys
Dentists and orthodontists
Healthcare professionals
Tutors and educators
Other specialized service providers
These roles are not general volunteer positions and are coordinated based on client needs and availability.

Service Volunteers
As a Utah resident, you can make a meaningful difference by volunteering with Holding Out HELP and supporting individuals from polygamous backgrounds. We welcome dedicated volunteers who are willing to share their time, skills, and talents to help meet practical, day-to-day needs.
We are often in need of service volunteers for projects such as:
-
Building and repair projects
-
Cleaning and organizing
-
Event support
-
Yardwork and outdoor projects
We also welcome volunteers with specialized or hands-on skills, including mechanics, cleaners, organizers, and others who can assist with practical tasks as needs arise.

Host Homes
Host Homes are a critical resource for those desiring to leave their polygamous communities but have “nowhere else to go.” Having shelter and safety is important stepping stones for clients to become confident and self-sufficient. Currently we only need host homes in the state of Utah, however, if you live in another state and would like to be considered if a need arises, please fill out an application.
