About
Host Home Training prepares approved volunteers to provide safe, stable, and supportive housing for individuals and families from polygamy. This training explains the purpose of host homes, the needs of the people HOH serves, and the practical responsibilities of opening your home to a client. Participants will learn how to support adults, minors, young single mothers, and small families with warmth, respect, confidentiality, and healthy boundaries. The training also covers trauma-informed care, religious sensitivity, communication with HOH case managers, home safety expectations, financial considerations, and how to help clients move toward independence without pressure or control. Host homes are not expected to have all the answers or manage placements alone. HOH partners with host homes throughout the process to help create a safe and thoughtful placement for both the client and the household. This course includes short knowledge checks throughout to help reinforce key concepts.
